What a Fun Last Two Days..

We have had some really nice weather some days of 75 and 83. Too bad the wind blew gusts up to 40mph, not good when the dirt is so fine its blowing every where. It hurts when it hits you.

We have been reviewing the letters again and also did a lesson about caterpillars for the letter c and read the book The Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, and watched a kid video of a real life capture of the metamorphisis of the Egg to Butterfly. She loved it. We did a couple color sheets talked about the process of how butterflies form and she sat on floor pulled legs in and tucked head to pretend like she was the egg and then stretched to her belly to wiggle like caterpillar then stood up and crossed legs and wrapped arms around herself real tight to be a coccoon (she keeps trying to say chrysalis it too fun) and then she slowly spreads her wings and flies away. We did couple craft pages also. When Luis came home from work she hurried and grabbed her book and read it to him just like I did her, I was amazed at how well she retold the story in her own words and then she got back on floor to show him all the actions. Her she is with her projects:
Please excuse her hair she had a bath that morning and we didnt do much too it. :)

We also have been checking and watering her flowers daily, three started to get some green she was so excited. She then drew a pic of what she saw. Whenever it changes she will continue to draw what she  sees and this next week we will read Eric Carle the tiny seed book and sing a song about little brown seeds and learn about what plants need to grow. also plan to go on nature walk and learn about the 5 senses. busy week but it all kinds of can be tied in together also for a week study.

Today she had story time at the library, every Friday we will go. Today they discussed farm animals. They also had some real farm animals brought in by a local. so nice we got their little early and Alexa was able to ride the pony, the had a baby lamb and a rooster and chicken. Funky Lookin rooster and chicken they are awesome looking wait till you see the picture below. Anyways im really impressed with the story time here and all the other kids are great too. Theres about 7-8 in the class when they all show up. Next Friday is Dr Seuss birthday, I was planning some crafts etc, but found out today at library we will be able to go back in afternoon for a little party with movie, crafts, popcorn, cupcakes, and get their photo taken in Dr Seuss hat with backdrop. So YAY!! that day is covered so I wont be needing to plan much for the rest of that day maybe read a Dr. Seuss book at bedtime.
Here are the photos from today:
She climbed up on that saddle like she does it daily. I was said" yep thats my girl".. haha
ok I didnt say that but i was thinking it.

Crazy head feathers. Aren't they fun
This is who I think they look like, hes from that movie surfs up.

Finally Some Nice weather

The next three days were hopefully gonna have 70-75 degree weather. Although its warm the wind continues to blow. The dirt almost so fine its everywhere. Its affecting all of our allergies lots especially Alexas. But on the upside we were finally able to go on a walk to the park and play for a few and plant some flowers (indoor for now) in Alexas princess greenhouse we got over the weekend. They are to be planted inside and then after about 5 weeks you plant them outside. Hope they grow, im not too good at keeping the ones at the store that are already potted alive, so I hope we can actually get the seeds to sprout.
Alexa will water them with a spray bottle and she drew picture today of what she sees and once they change she will journal with pictures what changes she sees. This will help her learn about Living Things. She is so excited she keeps looking over at them and telling me" any minute they will grow i just know it", I keep telling her it will take about 5-7 days maybe. The countdown is on. So here we are with day 1.

two seeds per little pod, she made sure they were just right..

This morning we reviewed our abcs, and are starting phonics and sounds of the abcs. We read a book about ballet and ballerinas to review the b sounds and spot all the b's we saw in the book did a color by number ballerina color page and some other couting games.  She made a craft:

I had the ballerinas already cut out and she colored them and made faces and made tutus with colored paper.
(idea from pintrest)

And dont forget its Mardi Gras found this craft also on pintrest from a lady I follow with awesome crafts for kids some educational and some just plain fun

Updates: its been a long time!!

Hello all we are now settled in and im going to try to keep up with blog posts now.
We are now back in our routine of preschool/ pre K studies on the computer and along with me preparing short lesson plans and printable packets with letters, numbers, books, and crafts and getting lots of inspiration from other blogs from stay at home moms and pinterest.  She is doing very well for here age, she can write her name, her age, she has shape, letter, and numbers 1-20 recognition. We are working on rhyming, vowels sounds and beginning reading- noticing sight words etc. so excited to be able to share thsi experience with her. There is a very good school here in Jal small class sizes too. I was going to enroll here for their preschool class but held off since its already towards the end of the year and going to dedicate time to it here are home for now. Once shes 5 i hope to get her enrolled in possibly preK or at least some activities like gymanastics, dance, music and arts etc.. Every Friday we will be attending storytime here at the libray. very very nice libray here. Its 45 min they have coloring sheets and then read and have a craft. I know she will enjoy it, I will stay there are library and have some mommy time reading books. : )
Last weekend we went to carlsbad caverns, it was so neat. Something everyone need to experience just once at least. It was amazing to see something like that. Alexa really enjoyed it, even though she has to walk about 2 miles and since shes smaller it was probably more for her little legs. She did great though.
Where we live isnt the nicest lets say, this town is rather old and run down but it works. I will put a couple flowers outside my door so i have something pretty to look at when im outside. The further you drive into new mexico the prettier it does get, I like all the rock. But where we are not so much... There is a small little lake/pond here in town with walking path and new playgound. There are ducks that you can feed also. It is very nice, along with the library and the school. The rest of the town is all cactus, dirt, half grown dead trees, lots lots of oil drilling (smell of it outside), and trash ( im actually pretty disappointed about seeing all the trash its all over in this area even in towns over hr aways from us). Oh well we will make the best of it like we always do.
Love and miss everyone. I will post photos soon and every once in awhile to keep everyone updated on new and exciting things.
oh yea- Alexa is finally gettign the hang of her bike riding without me pushing her and with her being able to handle the pedaling and the steering of the bike all at once. :) finally. We will keep working with her and hopefully someday get the training wheels off. One step at a time. At least we are having progress. YAY!!
